I just came through armstrong and did not have any problem with not enough snow on the shoulder. Ive ridden that route every weekend the trails have been open for 15 years and the road routes aren't any worse than any other town I've been through....
OK, so maybe today they didn't seem too bad. And maybe they're not that bad compared to other town roads. I mean, you got me thinking about it. But I still think there are times when they are overly aggressive with the snow removal along the snow routes. I think one reason it wasn't too bad today, was because of the snow we got the day before, and the kind of snow. The freezing wet kind that's harder to remove completely off the road. I don't seem to be the only one to think that way. Others have said they avoid Armstrong Creek because of it. So, I still think there is something here. Heck, you're a diehard, and just happy to get out. And like myself sometimes, with a more positive attitude, you're able to overlook such things. But I still think we should go out of our way to welcome snowmobiles (toursim). :)

I came across what I seems to be a hazardous situation today at the corner of Highway 8 & Cemetery Rd and at the corner of Highway 8 and Chitko Rd. It looks like someone has plowed the snow back even further off the road and shoulders where the snowmobiles cross the road. It appears that whoever did it, must not ride. Otherwise, they would realize the perilous condition that is created when you do that. Snowmobiles usually do NOT turn or steer the best on bare pavement. It makes it very tricky for riders to steer, cross the highway, or get back on the trail where they're supposed to (like the trail head) where the snow bank is cut down. Instead, you may find yourself heading right toward the giant snow bank across the highway, and you can't do anything about it. And if there's traffic coming... You may have no choice but to go up and over the snow bank, or risk getting hit. This is the EXACT SAME SPOT where Mike got hit by a semi-truck a couple of years ago. I called the town garage around 4:30 but nobody answered. I left a message, and asked them if they could fix that. I also called and talked with Wally. He was going to take a look at it, and assured me that it would get fixed. Pics to follow...

Now, before some of you more experience riders even try to suggest that it shouldn't be that hard. You have to remember that not every rider is an experienced rider. There will also be novice riders trying to cross, and they will have a higher risk of having a potential mishap. And it goes without saying, that even the more experienced riders could have problems.

You know Jim, it's not like you guys have 8' of snow on the ground and the banks were to high at the corner:confused: Looks like someone had nothing better to do in the shop, so they took the loader out to play:mad: That is just plain stupid thinking right there, but as they say.......You can't fix stupid:lol:

Bad Corners

Nashotah7 was pretty close to what happened. Also try to remember that Armstrong Creek
probably employs a few "cowboys" who like to see just how much that Front-end Loader
can really push. Its also possible that those cowboys have a difficult time tying there
shoes much less think ahead about safety.

Some employees are simply "what-you-see-is-what-you-get".
