Armstrong Creek Update 01/06/22

Post by CHOPPER 3 »

The Armstrong Creek Tucker made its way down to the Little Long Lake swamp area early yesterday morning to attempt crossing of the swamp . The Wabeno Tucker was on hand in the event of an issue . I made it across without much trouble , however the swamp is still very soft . When you can see trees shaking 20 feet away from where you are driving , the swamp is still soft . These cold nights are just what we want to get things locked up in the swamps. Be advised of some rough spots on the swamp section we are still trying to smooth out . The Wabeno Tucker will be grooming across after the weekend is over , as it is around 4,000 lbs heavier than the Armstrong unit . The swamp section south of Armstrong Creek isn't ready to cross yet , but we were able to cross it with the Super Imp and push snow into the open water areas and pack it down Tuesday morning . Overall , trails are looking great thanks to 4-6" of fresh stuff yesterday . SS 1 & SS 6 were groomed yesterday , SS 2 & the NST 1 will be groomed tonight . Stay tuned for more updates closer to the weekend .

The 3 ingredients you must have to successfully cross swamp sections are :
1)The correct temperatures
2)The correct equipment
3)The correct operator with localized knowledge of the specific area
30+ years of grooming trails
