Jim,Ifeel your pain, frustration when you speak of road routes in your township.I was a club trail boss & club pres. for years and fought hard to keep town routes open.Be very-very-very carefull here it is a touchy subject w/ local residents. One complaint as you know the town will plow the road cause its safety first for vehicles, snowmobiles are on the bottom of the list!!!More complaints and the route will be closed!!!!!!! Clubs tend to use road routes because of lost permission from land owners were the good groomable trail use to be,I believe this is the case in Armstrong Creek area.Watch who you piss off they can make a trail boss's life hell!!!! Remember this is suppose to be a fun volunteer job.

On the other hand, Jims effort to build this website to keep us sledders informed of trail cond. along with all his trail grooming hours suggest that he has his towns best intentions in mind. And from where I stand it doesn't appear as if he has a dog in the fight,... ie; business owner
Sitting silent while walking on eggshells does nothing to keep trails open.
Appeasement is only temporary fix at best when spite drives an opponent.

As trail coordinator and past president of Florence County, I to feel the pain. I have tried to work with the various township plow jockies as well as town chairmen etc. The worst case was when a group of us were getting ready to leave from my house on sleds. The groomer is parked in the driveway. The town plow guy stopped in the road, jumped out and proceeded to bitch me out because he went in the ditch with the truck. After a heated agrument and just to spite me, he continued to plow up and down the road until there was basically no snow left. It ended there. the following year I took a different approach. I explained to him how I was going to groom the sides of the town roads and how I would clean up any issues with my plow truck after I get back from grooming. We agreed on my plan and it worked fine until this year when he retired. Now I get to start all over!!
