I would love it if Northern Marinette would become snowmobile only in winter, just don't see it happening due to "assumed" potential loss of revenue. Of the 4 "Up-North" clubs I have ridden the most on in my life (Dun-Good, Florence County, 100 Miler, and Keweenaw Trail Services), I must say I enjoy Dun-Good and KTS the most. Each still has their negative(s) (Dun-Good being UTVs, KTS apparently not knowing how to groom in less than ideal conditions), but I absolutely love all the wide yet twisty FRs (or groomed summer roads in the case of KTS). But I digress and to each their own. Plus, best to keep Northern Marinette/Florence County a secret to continue their strong positive of less traffic than neighboring areas.
I generally avoid the Marinette trails because of a few bad experiences with torn up trails from ATV's. (Exposed rock and ruts and snowmobiles do not mix!) But I do like the Florence trails. Usually they are not too crowded and are well groomed. Of course nothing can beat the 100 Miler! :p

I Ain't Got You

Post by Jim »

I got trails opened to the left of me,
I got trails opened to the right of me,
I got trails opened all around me,
but I ain't got you!

Reminds me of this old Aerosmith song:
I agree it probably was the right call holding off on the trail opening but guys dont blame the 100 miler crew for this one:coolcat:

Blame the county!

I have heard the swamps haven't really froze up yet? with lack of cold temps after the thaw? i would hate to see that shiney new armstrong creek groomer burried in the swamp like it was one time

But i would also like to see a good base for a smooth ride all season!! yes i know the neighboring atv friendly club was open along time ago.. But who wants an rutted trail all winter because of the atvs ripping it up during the thaw?
i rode the dungood club trails 2 weeks ago, they were in great early riding condition. Only bad spot was trail 5 south where there was logging ops.
rode the UP too. Was they perfect....no,...had to skip over some water gaps and such... but is that where we is at now?....we need perfect trails to open? I hope not. when sled riding becomes freeway smooth or nothing,...count me out.

i only feel sorry for the businesses that need a boost or bust.

Today is Xmas Eve, tomorrow is Xmas Day, The snow ended yesterday afternoon. Our groomer drivers have a life. Believe it or not there is more to opening the trails for the first time of the year then just flipping a switch. Unlike myself, most of the workers for the trails do not take calm down pills, and do not take criticism well! SO just RELAX.

X2 I agree. Even after a good portion of the night grooming, not too hard to get up early the following morning to go riding!
