Thanks for the input. My plan was to make a loop from the 100 in Wabeno over to Goodman Park, down to High Falls, back to Lakewood and grade back to Wabeno. I have ridden all of it before (nice trail) except the Benson Lake road link.

I just didn't want to lead a group of sleds into a 5-10 mile overheating blacktop grind down Benson Lake road.

it's hard packed snow and ice, ridable but you may have to hit the shoulder once and a while for some lube and to get some snow on the heat exchangers

We went through there today coming from the south/west and the sign points straight ahead to Marinette trails.
The road right there at the intersection was plowed down to pavement/gravel but maybe it gets better as you head east?
It could be due to cold temps and resent snow or (different plowing methods )but the roads coming into AC had a decent amount of snow as compared to the past few years.....
It was a great ride on the south and north trails in and out of AC....big thanks to all!

Just to clarify we hit intersection 30 this past saturday. I made a thread about it but was directed to this tread. AT the intersection the road was all snow covered with plenty on the sides as well. Then about a mile up the road the plowing ended and turned into a road which looked to be only traveled on by a truck a snow fall or two ago. We didnt know for sure if that lead to the other trails so we turned north to Armstrong creek instead. If we would have stayed on that trail we would have gotten there?

Kinda a pain in the arse to ride since the tire ruts on each side were a foot lower than the snow in the middle.

Benson Lake road connection....rode it Monday

Post by Chainlake »

I rode the Benson Lake Road connection from Goodman Park to the 100 miler on Monday. Best I can say is beautiful views of the river.

Rideable but the carbides were making lots of angry noises. The road was plowed right down with 1-2' tall chunky banks on both sides so you couldn't get any relief or snow for the slides. The little dusting we had on Sunday was the only lube over the scraped down hard pack road and you have to hunt around for enough hard pack to protect your carbides.

It's really too bad. It's a great east-west connection to other trails if the plow would just leave us some sort of a semi-flat bank. The section of the 100 that runs on the same road was perfect so we know it can be done.

I know it's a State corridor trail but does any club have responsibility for that stretch?
