Yeah T. Chris I understand completely! I'd like to take some ride time on that ultimate! Where is that Peshtigo River Trail you posted a pic of? Or where do I pick that up? Looks like a nice ride for the up coming weekend.

disappointing Lakewood trails

Post by snohawk »

Saturday went riding in FAMILY MODE. We tried the Peshtigo Trail by Crivitz. The Iron Snow Shoe trails where good up to noon then they became very bumpy. It was hard riding when you have some new people riding and kids riding the first time. We made it back saturday nite from Silvercliff (thankfully the roads had enough snow on them) or I would never had heard the end. The only reason we didn't head to Forest county trails was I have been told that we always take the same trails, well I don't think anyone will say that again.

Tried to go back out saturday nite at 9:00 pm (MODE TWO). hoping the trails where groomed in Lakewood area, I race Supercross in the summer and I have to say the the whoops were too much, so after 15 miles we turn around and went back home. We should have just pushed on the townsend.

Sunday I got up and went out to check the trails none of the Lakewood trials near Crooked Lake were groomed:mad: I was hoping to make our Sunday run up to Wild Rose and back, but when I did the trail report back at the cabin I lost eight of the ten riders. Know one wanted to get beat up again on the Lakewoood trails. I called the Lakewood club and was told that the groomer had just gone though the area, so I talked one friend into riding. Only found the Iron snowshoe trail groomed going up to Silvercliff and then Chickitee Rd groomed to hwy F. After those two trials it was back to the bumps so we never made it up to Forest county:( .Next week we will have to load the sleds up and trailer past Lakewood to get to some nice trails.

Sorry this is so long, and I don't want to say all trails are not groomed but why does Lakewood never get the trails groomed good for the weekend?
All of the (there so many sleds does not cut it) other clubs and groomer operators can get the trails good. If this sport is going to grow, we need to support the families and it can not be done riding down 2' mogel trails on the weekends first thing in the mornings

Everyone should call and complain to the Oconto county Director for the AWSC, but it would not help because it's the same guy

See you in Forest county when I bypass Lakewoods SuperCross Trail system

Peshtigo river trail

Post by townsend chris »

Thats the first half of the 100 miler trail from Wabeno to Armstrong Creek.
It is usually groomed late sat. night or early sun. morning
You catch it from the R.R GRADE . One stop sign, before the stop sign
at the gas station where the Wabeno groomer parks. Follow the road route (east)half a mile then it goes into the woods.
You can also catch it from L.M.T. (8 ?)
going east off the grade north of Wabeno.(about half way between wab.+Lao.)
Wabeno grooms up to Benson lk. rd.
Armstrong cr. grooms down to Benson lk. rd.
This trail is very scenic and have seen alot of wildlife here.

rough trails

Post by snowdog »

with all the complaining about the rough trails , has anybody considered that these trails may be groomed by volunteers and the're out riding too?
maybe "YOU" should join the chute pond or paul bunyan club and volunteer to do the grooming , then the rest of us would have good riding !

T chris,
That section of the 100 miler taken from Wabeno had a really bad short stretch earlier this season where it looked like a 4WD truck set in some deep ruts just before it froze.
has anyone been through there lately or maybe a reroute?
