There is so much that goes into marking trails the right way.
You've got that right! According to Publication PUB-CF-023-2004, AKA the [URL="
http://dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/cfa/Grants/F ... Book04.pdf"]Trail Signing Handbook.
I did this for a club for 15 years
Thanks! and Congrats for making it so long!!
it can be a every weekend job from Oct.1st till the snow flies and you still cant get it all done the way youd like.So you keep on doing more giving up your riding time during the season!
Time is a big part of it. Time is such a limited commodity. We only have so many hours a day, and most of them are already allocated to our other everyday tasks.
per the TRAIL MARKING RULES no orange blazers should be used on town road routes!!
I didn't know that. But then, I'd be the first to tell you that I don't know enough. I've only been doing it for a few years now. But I need to read over that trail signing handbook again. I wonder if it says anything about using aluminum nails?
Its hard to learn the ropes be active and helpfully when your just a weekender up north even harder to be a active member when most club meetings are held on weekday eves.
It's true. It really takes some moxie!
I like others am willing to help on area trails that I enjoy but just dont have the time now
That's ok. It sounds like you've already put in your time! If everybody put in the time you did, then we probably wouldn't be having this discussion.
some on this site seem to be up there most weekends and get alot a ridin in so Jim give them signs NOW :lol:trail marking isnt just done in fall!!! Snowmobiling is a YEAR ROUND SPORT AND A PART TIME JOB when your active in a club!!
You got that right too! At least gave me something to think about. We could do some trail marking during a club ride, or just have have a trail marking ride.
I am also wondering, if I should create a thread for such. A thread for places that need better signage. It would be a thread users, aka snowmobilers, could post messages about where they think we could use better signage. After all, it's about the end user:
The Snowmobiler.
I think I'm going to look into that... I will add it to my already very long list of things to do!
