Snowdog, I hear you and understand completely! I've been trying to get more and more involved each year. I don't mean to complain so much about this, but it's so hard to believe that nothing was done. I have a place in Townsend that I leave my sleds at and can just drive up and go...but what about all the people that came up either alone, a group, and families that don't have the option? I saw a lot of families out riding this weekend...and what about the people that came here the first time? Will they come back? First impressions are important and the businesses in the area all need the business. When they have a winter like this it is financially very hard on them. Many of them can't survive just off what they get in the summer, I want to see them survive and do well all year.
i have a place in mountain and usually leave my sleds there , makes things easier .
over the last 20 plus years my brother and i have driven all over NE Wisconsin & the UP to go riding ( just for something different ) . we've driven 300 miles to ride on trails that were like a hyway the year before ,only to find them looking like the've never seen a groomer . you never know what your going to find , so chute pond & the pb are'nt the only ones with a problem.
i think part of the problem is all the traffic from the south , have you ever seen the parking lot in suring or gillet ? a ton of trailers and everbody heading north with almost no where to get off until the're north of mountain . i'm close enought to the rr grade to hear sleds coming and going for miles . it doe'snt matter what time of the nite i go out , 2-3-4 o'clock , if there's snow somebody will be on it .
Armstrong Creek Trail (bridge)
No, I believe the problem had to do with the weight the bridge was rated for, and that the bridge was for our club only. And that someone (the land developer?) kept cutting the locks on the bridge and removing the large boulders to gain access to the bridge. So, it was removed due to a liability issue of someone getting hurt by driving an overweight truck across it. It was only a span bridge with no support. But I sure wish we could get this resolved, because I don't like riding the detour up Old 101, especially since the development boom back there, they've started plowing Old 101 all the way back to Pestigo River Road. But at least Blackwell leaves us something on the road to ride on, unlike whoever is doing the plowing for Armstrong Creek. Someone needs to call the town and ask them not to plow all the snow off the road, and not to plow all the snow off the shoulder, and to leave us something to ride on!
Thanks for the update Jim,
I like that section of trail, even though there is a little more road to travel
hopefully the logging is only one season. We had the snowplow issue
a couple years back in brazeau(oconto co.) they told us it was a safety
issue and continued to plow the roads bare every time.
Safety Issue for who? For us! With little or no snow... there is plenty of ice, that's for sure!

I took my daughter back there for a ride the other day on the 2up and we started to slide sideways!! That was pretty scary.

I also passed the plow yesterday when I was back there! But if we could get that bridge back in, then we wouldn't have to ride up the road either!

Jim,
I think what Chris meant was he was told it was a safety issue for the people doing the logging, that was why they plow the roads bare. I think it sounded like there was some logging in the area as well right now?;)

I know... I was just being sarcastic!

But I did have a close call with that sled sliding sideways... I was afraid of rolling it with my daughter on back!

If you knew how to ride that wouldn't be a concern now, would it?

haha
