Here's a link to today's [URL="

I apologize for the delay in posting the pics, but I was sharing my problems (along with my bottle of 1981 Gold Medal Jack Daniels) with my mother, while we discussed the finer points of customer service.

It just makes me sick when I think/see the overall deterioration of customer service. What happened to 'pride in a job well done'? Instead, it's the cheaper the better, the less cost, the more profit. Never mind the level of customer service. That's why we have to sign a 2-year contract for satellite tv and cellular phone service. Why? No, it's not so they can recoup their costs. That's already built in with deposits and through proprietary networks that require the purchase of a new phone every time you switch carriers. Why? Because their SERVICE SUCKS. And the only way they can keep you is by contract. God forbid, they give you the level of goods and services that you deserve. Or that they provide you such great service, that YOU'D WANT TO STAY with them. Why do that? When they've got you locked in for next two years. No matter the service. Just like Red Lobster who will automatically add 15% to your bill for gratuity based on the number of people in your party. This wrong on every level as is, but what really makes it wrong--- it's their dirty little secret. They don't tell you, hoping that you won't notice that it's already been added, so they can further relieve you of your hard earned cash for services not provided. When did this become mandatory? Gratuity is based on the level of service received, not some mandate. How can they get away with this? If you keep going back. This is wrong on both scales. The first time I became aware, I had excellent service. I was going to tip 20%. But they already factored in 15% for our 9-top (4 adults, 5 kids). Once I noticed that, I figured Red Lobster felt that was the maximum they were worth. The second (and last time I ever went) this happened (same group of 9) the service sucked. We had two waitresses for a 9-top. You don't need 2 for a 9-top. Yet, I still couldn't get any extra butter. You see... they have NO INCENTIVE for providing good service... all they gotta do, is get you to pay the bill. :thebomb:

Your point is well taken,...Incentive is key ....
thats why raising taxes on the so called "rich" removes the incentive to work harder,...afterall whats the point if your ingenuity and sweat only earn you a bigger tax bill.
Not to get all political, but this is why socialism/communism has failed where ever it has been tried.
Hey Jim! Ever think of running for Governor????? :slywink:
I have been eying our local government recently. Because when it comes to our (Armstrong Creek) snow routes, it is quite the political quagmire to say the least. Yet, despite that fact... I was surprised at how good our snow routes actually are. But that doesn't mean we still don't have a problem. Apparently the other day, a resident complained to the town plow guy that the road was too narrow. And so all the snow was plowed off the road and the shoulder up into the tree line. Which as Dickey pointed out, only makes the matters worse. Because with no snow on the shoulder, snowmobiles have no choice but to ride on the road. But I asked our town Charmian who the plow guy works for, and shouldn't the plow guy be taking direction from him? I also asked Wally to ask the plow guy to ask the citizen who complained about the road being too narrow, if they were having any other problems with snowmobiles on that road. Like speeding, not stopping, staying on trail. I felt like there might actually be some underlying issues here, that aren't being addressed. Is that why the resident felt the road was too narrow, because of sleds speeding down the road, etc. And Bingo! Yes... apparently there are some underlying issues here. Because I told Wally I'd do what I could to help resolve the issue, by posting some SLOW signs and such. But I don't agree with this policy of the want of one over the needs of many. Some feel like the town board doesn't even care about what kind of condition our snow routes are in, and that some might even favor shutting them down all together. Of course, this is nonsense. We have nothing but tourism here in Armstrong Creek basically. And you want to cutoff this economic resource? Crazy. Let us be reminded as snowmobile riders, that this just another good reason to watch your speed and driving when in town. Be courteous. Because you don't want to ruffle the feathers of the residents and have them complaining to the town plow guy, that the road's too narrow.
Hey Jim! Ever think of running for Governor????? :slywink:
You know it's funny, because it wasn't until recently that I fully understood the quote by Plato "The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs, is to be ruled by evil men". Self-serving people in office with their own hidden agendas. But that's not right. We're supposed to be doing what's in the best interest of Armstrong Creek. But some are resistant to change, even if it's for the better. I know I can be like that at times, adopting the policy, "if it aint broke, don't fix it." But times are a changing and we must create innovative solutions to life's difficult problems and find new answers/solutions by thinking outside the box. You don't have to change and you don't have to adopt to our ever changing environment if you don't want to, but if you don't, you'll probably end up extinct!

Just thought I add another comment about this issue, because I talked with another individual this evening that happens to be a backup plow driver. Let me paraphrase and summarize what he said. Which was basically he can't stand snowmobiles and couldn't say enough bad things about them, and went on further to say he'd run them over if he got the chance, because they couldn't cause him much damage. I called our town chairman and informed him of this discussion I had with this individual. I told Wally, if it was up to me, that guy would never step inside another one of our town's plows. I would of fired him immediately. First off, it seems like the town could have a liability and financial problem with this. But once again... we have someone who is in our service sector who should be working for the public and their wishes. Not their own self-service hidden agenda. The nerve of these people. If you don't want to service the public, then stay the hell out of it. I suppose he's only doing it for the paycheck. I told Wally I didn't care about the pay, but if he needs any backup, I'd fill in. Because we don't need these self-servicing hypocrites in our public sector. Nobody died and made you queen. And how you can even think that you are queen or have more rights then the next individual is preposterous and you should have your head examined (by a witch doctor). Then we can put you back under that rock you came crawling out from. The sad part for them, is that don't even have a remote clue as to what they're missing here. And it's right under their nose. As our town sign reads "Discover the Beauty". :thebomb:
Thank-you, Thank-you. Nice to know I have some support!! Call me crazy, but I like to live by that Golden Rule. A rule so simple, so meaningful, and so powerful. Yet so many lack the wisdom to understand it.
