Can anyone tell me where I can get Michigan stickers? We are leaving Laona and going up to Michigan via the grade.
Thanks, Tom

I've seen fellers on Craigslist trying to sell trail passes. I took the liberty of trying to find a specific posting but didn't find any at just this time (searched Appleton, GB, and Northern WI areas).

We went from Mole Lake to Laona to Mich via the grade this past weekend.
4 of us have Mi stickers and 2 didn't.
Went over to Iron River for lunch and then back into Wi.
The 2 without stickers decided to take a chance and go without one.
Made it without getting checked.
IMPO, I would have bought one. It's a lot cheaper then getting caught and paying a big fine.

I think you can on line from MI DNR.

Thanks for the Information. I found the following website,
www.msasnow.org/Trail_Permit_Agents.asp
The website lists all the locations you can purchase Michigan Stickers. There appears to be (2) locations in Iron River. How far is Iron River from the Wisconsin/Michigan border? This may be the only "convenient" location for my riding buddies who need stickers. It says it takes 7-10 days if you order them on-line. Good to know for next year.

I know it used to be that you could ride on the trails from WI and into MI until you reached a gas station/DNR station that sold snowmobile licenses. We used to ride up to watersmeet and get them at the gas station in town. As far as I know this is still the case, but not certain.

I thought the same thing, but was wrong.

We rode to the gas station to get the stickers and the warden met us at the turn off from the main trail as we turned in. He let us get them but we were informed we needed them before we entered Mi. Now we stop and get the at the gas station before we enter the state.

He was very nice, he could have fined us but must have had this problem before.
This was three years ago.

looks about 7 miles, but the issue could be that you would be picked up. Can you call oe of the stations and see if you can buy over the phone or on-line and pick up in person. Will your receipt work as proff until you get it?
Thanks

Thanks for all the information. I'll give the call/on-line process a try and see what the options are.

i know several years ago that some wi bars near mi border sold mi trail passes. These bars were listed on the mi trail maps. I just drove to Iron River in car once and sledded to I R once to buy pass.Never bought from a bar. (not open soon enough)
