Trail Inspection

Post by Jim »

I managed to get out for a small trail inspection today. I wanted to check the swamp south of town to see if it was frozen yet and to inspect the trail south of the swamp if it was passable. The swamp is frozen solid now, but it is all tore up and really rough. It appears someone got stuck back there and tore everything up trying to get out. They even tried to break a new trail in the process. Dick says we'll have to drag a lot of snow back there to try to smooth things out. The rest of the trails seem to have a pretty good ice base with some snow cover. I also saw a pickup truck on the trail cutting firewood. It seems like there's been a lot of traffic on our trails up here. I'm hoping that when the trails do open up, that they will stay off them. There is some significant snowfall in the forecast, so keep your fingers crossed, and just maybe.... just maybe... we'll be hitting the trails this week.
