Cable question....

Post by FormulaZ583 »

The thumb warmer went on my days sled last year and replaced the throttle with a new one and when i took it off there was a zip tie around the end of the cable. Then when i put it back together the throttle was all loose so i figured out why the zip tie was there. I tired to do the same thing to fix the play but couldnt get anything to work is there away to adjust the cable that i dont know about? Tired the adjustment on the cable itself but is it possible to adjust the carbs or something to make the play go away? oh its a 94 Mx, so if anyone could help me out thad be great

There should be Mikuni Carbs on there. On top of each carb where the cable goes in there is a lock nut (I believe 8mm wrench). Loosen the lock nut and turn the cable which ever way needed to take the slack out. One thing to remember on dual carb models is to make sure both cables are adjusted equally. You can check this by removing the air box and checking to see that each slide moves at the same time. Also check to make sure each slide goes all the way to the top or else you do not have full throttle!!
