We were going up the grade just past the groomer in Wabeno, and about to make a left turn before the bridge when we saw 3 guys walking down the trail. I thought it was strange that people were walking on the trail. When we got out to hwy 8 their trailers and trucks were parked on the highway. We thought they just wanted to see how the trail conditions were. When we got back to the hotel we heard about the accident. I haven't heard what happen. Was alcohol involved?

Alcohol was involved! They left sportsmans bar and the bartender said he cannot drive but he got out anyways and drove. We knew the guy that got the rescue squad call. all the call was, was someone saying "there is a guy dead on this trail" and hung up pretty much. when they got to the crash site there was just a guy dead there and no one around. Its sad, its not the speed that kills!!
its under big investigation.

Two killed in separate snowmobile accidents
by Daily News staff
Two snowmobilers were killed in separate Northwoods accidents over the weekend.
Kevin J. Peterka, 37, of Saukville, was killed Saturday morning when he was involved in an accident in the township of Wabeno in Forest County.
Michael J. Anderson, 61, of Tomahawk, died from injuries he received in an accident early Sunday morning in the Town of King in Lincoln County.
According to investigating law enforcement officials, Anderson was northbound on a marked snowmobile trail on the Wisconsin River when he failed to negotiate a curve in the trail and struck the embankment and several small trees. He was ejected from the sled.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
A contributing factor may have also been the subzero temperatures which could have fogged up the face shield on his helmet.
