Saturdays nightmare

Post by padus trash »

Last Saturday about 9:00 P.M. our group came accross a very serious snowmobile accident near Wabeno. I would like to remind people to carry a fully charged cell phone with them. And it's also very helpful to the emergency staff if you know where you are(closest trail intersection) It could make a huge difference !

Some members of our group said they saw a trashed sled over near Pickerel Lake. Does anyone know what happened over there. Must have happened Saturday morning early this last weekend?

The Three Lakes trails have signs at the intersections with 911 location information. I think that is the best idea I have EVER seen.

And keep your cell phone as close to your body as possible. When the phone gets cold, the battery runs down until it warms up again (at least mine does!).

If it was the Yamaha you saw in the trees I also saw it. It happened late Friday night he was on the memorial ride and he crashed into the trees unfortunately he did not make it. That is all I know I was talking to one of the other guys on that ride at the jump-in.

I think the sled you are asking about may have being one of my club members brother in law sled. I heard that the trottle may have stuck. The rider was air lifted to Marshfield. Broken hip, leg and pevis, also a head injury. I heard that they move person to Milwaukee on Sunday. That all I know for now

I also did hear of that accident. The one I was talking about was a SRX and I was there when they were installing the cross and hung his memorial vest he was wearing on the tree where he died and picking up his sled

Thats right I saw the vest in the tree as well. Thought that was strange. Never put two and two together.

I was there when They came to pick up the sled too...I guess he had a broken leg and a bruised lung from what his brother, I believe he said it was his brother, said. They dont know what ended up killing him but they were thinking it could have been a heart attack after they got him to the hospital.

A friend of mine was the second one on that scene on friday afternoon and said the he was in bad shock. It appeared as if the sleds left front a-arm hit a tree 4' up because his greese zert was broke off in the tree. Dont know exactly how it happened considering that was one of the best parts of the trail but then agian, things happen like that.

The 911 signs are a great idea if all the emergency personel also know about the signs. I was involved in an accident 2 season's ago and even though the people that called 911 read the sign to the dispatcher, the emergency people still didn't realize where we were. Someone had to go out to the highway with a car and flag down the ambulance. So yes the signs are great, but there should be a yearly review of the trail maps/signs with the emergency personel in that area
