What to do when you see a Groomer

I thought I start a thread on "What to do when you see a Groomer" and then take all of the best suggestions and comments and put them into a fact sheet. Here's a couple off the top of my head:
1. Pull over as soon as safely possible
2. Give a thumbs up to show your appreciation of their efforts
3. Give a sign as to the number of sleds in your party

I could probably tell you [B]WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN YOU SEE A GROOMER !!:eek: [/B] Especially at the end of his run.......
The main thing to remember is that the groomer has the right-of-way.
They are usually pulling a load of snow and if they stop it makes for a bad spot in the trail which can be dangerous for sled traffic.
That is why you should be patient and pass a groomer only after being signaled by the operator, they might have to empty the drag and that could take a couple of hundred feet. also that way they are aware of your presence.
Groomer operators :king: are constantly multitasking running the power unit and drag hydraulics,watching for sleds,trees, branches, signs and trying to fill the rip sawn trails.....Whewww! It ain't easy !!!

Over my years of grooming probably the thing NOT done by most riders is letting the groomer driver know how many sleds are behind you. Everyone letrs other snowmobilers know if and how many sleds are coming, but when it comes to groomers all they want to do is wave!!!!!! The groomer and his drag are taking up 10+ feet of the trail. It is nice to know if someone is coming around the next corner, trying to catch up!!!!

1 and 2 make perfect sense:) but I never thought to sign no. of sleds in party.We always ride as a pair or maybe 3 sleds and are not so spread apart.

I always thought a huge tip jar with a slot cut in the lid and mounted so us sledders coulddrop in a donation as they pas would be a good idea.
With the intention of the funds to go directly to the driver for lunch ,b-fast, drinks, etc.
L always have the urge to give the driver a little something to say thanks besides a :thumbup: ....This would make the process easier.
