A civil town in Forest Co., created 8 July 1922. Name changed to Armstrong Creek, 29 Nov. 1922.

Any history lesson here?...seems late for the timber boom.

But unfortunately, it now displays: [B]404 Error: File Not Found[/B] :eek: I spent a good part of an hour searching the Wisconsin Historical Society site (and Google) for the original document to no avail. :frown: But from what I remember, the town was named after the former Wisconsin Governor and US Senator, Robert Marion La Follette, Sr. (1855 - 1925) aka "Fighting Bob". And because of some type of political controversy, the town wanted to distance themselves from La Follette, and it was renamed Armstrong Creek in November of that same year.
