Why Armstrong Trails aren't groomed......yet.

Dick took groomer and no drag south and sunk it in a swamp over the bogies. He took groomer north with no drag and sunk it to top of tracks just out of Armstrong Cr. He didn't get to swamp by Laura and Gordon, or swamp by Cavour, or swamp around bridge north of Newald. Last night was the first night with temps below 25 to freeze swamps. The New Tucker is worth $190,000, I don't feel,we should have put that equipment in jeopardy, with cold weather so near.
There are more swamps up there. We have eliminated as many swamps as possible in our area. That is why a wheeled tractor works for us but not for Arm. cr. Wabeno has one small swamp but hills. Arm Cr. Has many swamps and this was the year of water and a relatively warm Dec. so swamps have not been freezing. talk to anyone logger, it is not pretty out there. It will get done.

Best of luck with those swamps, they can certainly make things interesting! Our club has a two mile stretch of very wet swamp, and there have been many years we go the whole season without being able to take a groomer through it.

I ran into some snowmobilers at the corner store, and they said the trails were great, until they got to Armstrong Creek. They wanted to know if our Groomer was broke down. I explained to them the problem with the swamps, and they understood that, but were a bit perplexed as to why nothing else was done. They were trying to figure out which way to ride next, but didn't want to ride North if it wasn't groomed. I told them that Dick was headed North, but I wasn't sure if he took the drag. Check back later for further updates.... I'm sure the boys will update us when they return.
