Oconto Co will open (partially?) today at noon. Is the NST open year round, and can a person ride it from Laona area south to Carter,Townsend, Lakewood?

Be safe out grooming guys, I seen 3 different tractors that got buried in the last day trying to prepare trails for people can get out. Its too bad they are opening up so fast because another week with the lows in the teens would really help.

The trail will be closed north of Valley Inn untill Forest County opens the trails.

What are the regulations that control different types of Rec. vehicles on the NST? ATVS are allowed until winter, correct?...or what?. When does winter arrive?.. an inch of snow?...not open to sledders at that point so what about ATVS? And if there is some arbitrary date like Dec. 1st or such, what good is that to not let anyone use the trails their taxes provide for based on a date?
Can I ride my snowmobile on the NST in July?...its my machine so my problem if it gets wrecked....so if I want to ride the NST in marginal conditions prior to an "official" snow trail opening declaration why stop me?....my sled skis throws sparks mid Feb. in the midst of otherwise perfect trail conditions on the grades due to wind blown areas.

I think its the bars and business's pushing for opening a bit early for the snow we have! i noticed most of the fields around armstrong creek are pretty bare and have grass sticking through.. That 7 inches we had settled and blew around. Plus with march being forcasted above average temps i think they want to try and get two months in
Talking more snow tuesday night i believe!

With temps in the upper 20's and sunny this weekend the trails will be done by Sat. afternoon till it snows again.

Perhaps it is too early but what guarantees these days? Rode 80 + miles in Oconto today, Red Arrow and Paul Bunyon and they were pretty good considering. Helps with sleds to pound down and attempt to set base, although I did notice some idiots accelerating out of corners and from stops. Ride when they allow it, enjoy it, and hope for prolonged cold and snow. I will be in Forest on Friday and during the weekend and I will enjoy them regardless!!!!!

Same here in Armstrong Creek-- at the bars and on the trails!

Maybe they thought December only had 30 days?
I thought I might see something in today's Forest Republican about the trails opening, but I couldn't find anything. :lookaround:
Of course, I'm blind in one eye, and can't see out the other. :coolcat:
Keep Right & Ride Safe!
and
Happy New Year!
