Yeah, too bad the trails don't open up until Dec. 11... I took some laps around my yard though with my old Panther. It was fun!

ive been out for 2 days now bombing around fields and farms with people i know. put on like 50 miles this year so far and i havnt hit a trail yet

our trails were marked yesterday, we consider the trails open once there is frost in the ground and at least 4" of snow.
its 5 deg.F. right now ,so the ground is firming up.
I don't believe there is an official "opening" day set by anyone....unless the land is state owned and gates need to be opened.
our club insurance runs year round.
I'm sure there are exceptions....

Well, according to the Waukesha trails hotline, this is where I got my info from. They were saying Dec. 11 so as to not interfere with the Dec. deer hunt, which runs from Dec. 7-10. I don't know if this is law or not yet, but there was talks about it in the AWSC magazine.

so IF you had some frost in the ground and also had,..lets say 14" of snow on the ground,....the trails in forest Co.would officially be "CLOSED"
Or could the gates be opened up at this point????
i know many forest co. trails depend on gates being unlocked, so what is the law, ordinance,...rule, that governs such trail openings????
this early snow fall may be unusual,and an issue that needs to be looked at, but hey as far as I'm concerned if you want to put venison in your freezer,....you've had plenty of opportunity.so the whole deer hunt time frame is over, in my veiw.

how exactly does snowmobiling interfere with the "deer hunt"?
If I had a loaded .38 with me everytime I sled, I could feed all the homeless in the city of milwaukee with all the deer i could cruise up on and "harvest" when i ride.

It's politics between hunters groups and snowmobilers. This year, the DNR agreed to have a late season antlerless deer hunt Dec. 7-10. Therefore, alot of clubs are not opening the trails until the 11th. I am not a hunter, so I don't know all the specifics. I would assume it is for safety reasons. I don't make the rules, I just follow them.
