Great weekend riding

Post by Pizza Man »

We had a great weekend in the area .
Left mole lake on friday and rode up to iron river and back. Not much snow cover the nearer we got to iron river,.
About 250 miles that day.
Left mole lake again on saturday and rode south to antigo and back up to argonne, via monico, crandon, then back down to mole lake. About 170 miles that day.
I have to say that the groomers are doing a very good job and will be back up in a few weeks providing the conditions are ok.

My weekend of riding was good also.
Saturday: Left Lakewood-Mountain area and headed to Mole lake and then to Crandon, then down to Lily and then back to Townsend. Trails in the woods are good and the only trail that I will stay away is the new grade trail that goes south of Crandon by Mentonda Lake, snow was burned off in the large gravel stones, if more snow comes it should not be a problem. Watch the corners for ice some have no base just ice.
Thanks Toolman we did take the trail south of the club house on Saturday and had fun on it.

Sunday: rode past Crooked Lake down the pipe line and then over to Chute pond and back up to Townsend before going home. All of the trails were groomed and in good condition:thumbup:

Snohawk your welcome! Your brother called me to go riding but we didn't get home till just before 10pm and then I had another 5 hrs in the tractor!

I hope we can get a ride in before the end of the season!

You say no base, just ice. What do you call base? Gravel?????? Ice is the best base for any trail. It can not be blown out! No matter how much traffic and burn outs..... it is still there on the trail! Without ice, all corners would be gravel...with the horsepower of the modern sleds. With the choice of ice or gravel.....I will take ice every time.

Johnny, I will take the ice over gravel. I was just letting the other riders know that on some of the trails the corners have the brown ice that is hard to get a bite. There are a lot of trails in the area that still have a good hard snow base in the corner. I did break down this week and put a new set of carbides on, my old bars had over 4000 miles and it will take to much time to grind them back into shape. It will be a summer project.

Hoping the trails last for this weekend, my club is going to have a trip at Mole Lake this weekend. Our Carter trip was canceled with the warm weather two weeks ago:letitsnow:

We put on over 500 miles from Thursday to Sunday. Riding from the Alvin area south to Laona, north through Argonne, Hiles and up the "Kimble Creek" trail up into the U-P on trail 15 to trail 2, on the F3 to Tipler. Even ran into the groomer towards the state line.

ALL trails were incredibly fast.

Great big thumbs up :thumbup::thumbup: to all the hardworking groomer drivers for keeping the trail system the BEST in the state!!!! :)
