Sunday - 2/12 Trailer Drop Off

Drop off
I'm heading up for a day of riding Wednesday, wondering the same things. Normally would just ride from my cabin in Townsend but want to get into the better snow. Jim it looks like you have it in your area. Drop and ride from Laona work? Any help appreciated.

Park on the road by Johnny's and unload, go north across HWY 8 and then east on the trail to Cavour - north on the NST to the Armstrong turn then take the Florence county trail north to Fence (was not to bad going into Fence last Saturday) When you get north of Fence go west on trail F4 - that will take you bad to the NST - Then you will have to decide do I want to ride more (North) :redgrin: or do I go home (south) :shrug: Good luck you will have some good trails BTW my vote is to ride more

Weekday Ride
410shooter, why would not head west / southwest out of townsend on Red Arrow Trails (Flowage to Reservoir to trail) to Langlade county, then pick up trail to Lilly or 9 mile resort trail and then get to the WRST grade? All were ok on Sunday, and Johnnies post stated some people were in on monday from White Lake and said the WRST was ok. Landlade trails are options as well, and visit langladesnow.org for more info. and rider report.
Then head north on the grade, and you can get to Johnnies via Crandon, TP / LMT around Lake Lucerne or 100 miler in the area. Then as Snohawk stated, you can ride north, then west, and do whatever?
Gets better north, but you can still get there on some still decent trails if your expectations are not super high! Good and bad spots everywhere.
Not sure if LMT has groomed the grade of late, but Lilly is good about that, so it could be better than you think. Just my two cents worth!

Rode from Townsend to johnnies today. Not great, but not the worst I've ridden.
Wabeno grade is no longer completely gone and that is only a small stretch.
North and south of Wabeno is not terrible. The "s" curve north of town has it's
usual bare spot, then it's not bad. Laona is a little rough but once you get by
Cheneys it's good all the way to johnnies. After a world famous bloody mary,
you can head north and do the Newald, Armstrong creek loop. Trails were very
nice. I don't know how long the NST will stay, but you could break off at the valley
inn and they are very nice that way to.
You could drop at johnnies and ask him which way to go. He has the most accurate
