Looking for trail conditions ( ROBERTS LAKE)

Post by PANKRATZ »

Hi everyone,
Our family has been up in Michigan the last 5 weekends sledding and we pulled Trailer home Sunday. We have a cabin on Jungle Lake road and I was just wondering if I should pull Trailer up to land for the remainder of snowmobile season? Not looking to put alot of miles on but I want to give my 12 year old some seat time since he went through safety course. Would not let him ride in Michigan due to all the traffic. You think there would be a couple of weekends left??? The trail runs through the back side of our 60 acres so I don't think I will have to do road running.
Thanks for any help,

Jungle Lake Road by your place is toast but since you can get to the trail thru the woods you will should be okay. As of last weekend the trails were still decent. My kids and I put on 75 miles in the Roberts Lake and Laona. Some of those miles were on the trail behind you. Trail conditions were not ideal but surprisingly better than you might think.

From a new driver perspective, traffic has been light.

I am going to be optimistic some of these late February and early March storms come thru. It was only a few years ago my son and I managed to snowmobile in April! Since the trails had closed the weekend before we were limited to unplowed logging roads but it was still nice to be able to put a few miles on before putting the sleds away for the season.

Hi Pat,
Thanks for the info. My son has off school Friday so we will pull up trailer and leave up there till spring. Will be nice to get back up there again since the last time was deerhunting. Will have to make a point to get to Johnies by sled with my son.(His maiden voyage at twelve years old) Hope I'm not teaching him bad habits.LOL.
We will have to get together Pat in the near future and as always just stop in if in area.

P.S. Might have to sample Johnies Kraught Bomb.

If it makes you feel any better, my son's maiden voyage was to Johnnies, too. Don't tell anyone, but he was only 11 at the time. It was the last weekend the trails were open and he just got a new sled. We had spent the entire winter practicing (me on the back, him driving). He had already completed the snowmobile safety class and had his permit. The only thing he was missing was his birthday.

Anyway, as the saying goes, all trails lead to Johnnies.

PS. I don't know if I could stomach a kraut bomb.

Hi Pat,
Trails were way better than I was expecting.Ended up at 110 miles for weekend. Nothing like seeing the smile on my young guys face all weekend being in charge of his own sled. I really had a big smile when we got to Johnnies.(Smoken Hot Bartender).Don't tell my wife LOL. We are heading up again Friday night.

Smokin' hot is right! She's really getting a lot of attention in that place. Johnnie will soon have to charge a cover to get in...lol!
