Heading up this afternoon. Any report on the trails north of Laona to the White Tail then toward Nelma and back south toward Hiles / Argonne?

It was gorgeous on Tuesday, see the "Laona loop" thread. Just don't follow my hubby's path into the woods-LOL. We went from Lakewood up and around that loop, back to Lakewood and for the last 130 miles or so we didn't see another sled, just 3 groomers. From 10 miles north of Laona around the whole loop and down, no one. We had the trails to ourselves and the 3 groomers we met. Are we spoiled! Ride right and safe. Have fun.

Attempted the reverse of that loop (NST north out of Laona, left/west at int 49) yesterday morning- and it was chopped all to crap. It doesn't appear that trail (the east end, at least) has been groomed since the last snowfall. NST on the other hand was pristine since we hit it pretty early in the morning. Watch out for deer- they're all over the place lately.
This theme has shown up quite a bit lately, but I'm going to hit on it again. It's absolutely astonishing how many hot dogs out there think they have the entire trail(s) to themselves. As the pack leader on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning I had a number of closer than comfortable calls, especially on the Armstrong Creek loop yesterday. Pure stupidity. I'm just about ready to side with Matt.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I had a couple pass us ( as I was leading a group ) from Int 30 south and I was moving at a smooth 40!! and as soon as they passed a family with children with them came from the other direction almost as soon as the last HD passed around me there were two of them! If I wasn't in such a good mood Ida caught up with them and gave them something to think about!
:taz:They could a tleast gave me an indication they wanted to go around! I keep my eye on my group around corners to see if we have everyone yet. I would have been more than happy to pull over and let them pass and a good spot on the trail!!
If that last Hot dog would have been 3 sec slower there would have been a big mess involving KIDS!!

But thats one reason I decided not to ride this weekend, because of some over zealous throttle jockeys that couldn't wait more than 20 secs for me to see them and pull over. I don't like to ride as fast with kids on board.

We have officially rescheluded our annual birthday weekend to the great north woods to now include Monday through Wednesday due to the high traffic of "Weekend Warriors" that seem to think they OWN the trails.
I also do not like to ride really fast, especially through the woods.
Hats off to all the folks involved that make the trail system in Forest County the BEST in the state!!!!:thumbup:
