G'day Mate!~

Post by Jer »

Work has sent me to Brisbane, QLD Australia for a month to work. These Aussie's have no idea about snow...so little, in fact I had to get the forum administrator to open access to this part of the world just so I could give them a clue. ;)

Here is a shot outside my apartment on the 34th floor in downtown Brisbane.

Who would of thunk? I had the entire subnet (1.0.0.0/8) blocked!  Before you travel again next time, I'll have to check the firewall. No worries!

Stay away from the kangaroo meat, it tends to make most people a little jumpy:lol:

The last time I was in Australia was Christmas 1968, so maybe this advise is a little old:

Have a frosted "skooner" of San Miquel but SIT DOWN first! You may not remember falling flat on your face
before finishing the skooner if you don't. And NEVER NEVER think that you can out-drink an Aussie!!

Let us know if you decide to try!

Good luck and have a safe trip.

Thanks for the tip and the advice, I will see if I can get my work mate to find a pub with such...

I was worried about keeping up with the Aussies, so I started working out before I came down. First with 12oz curls and then 16oz curls. I've had a few Crownies and VB stubbies, and even a few pints of Fat Yak. The Fat Yak was pricey, about $11 AUD a pint.

Looks as if I need a bit more of this funny money....

I mentioned San Miquel to my work mates, and they just laughed at me...they say you can get that anywhere?!?

These Aussies take their drinking seriously; Beer O' clock started at 5:00 on Friday afternoon. They opened up the beer cooler at work and started playing on the Xbox on the big screen in the break room. They even had some of the hard stuff available too, one chap had a couple of Wild Turkey's. Thankfully I only had a few blocks to walk back to the apartment....

I went to a rugby match over the weekend at Suncorp stadium here in Brisbane; those are some hard-hitting blokes...
