rr grade from Townsend to Long Lake
rr grade from Townsend to Long Lake
Is rr grade from Townsend to Long Lake open all the way ? Is the swamp area at bridge by Newald do-able for experienced riders ? We will be starting our ride Thursday morning.

As of this time the Gate at Newald (south of the swamp area at bridge) is locked. Insufficient ice to support traffic. May improve if cold continues but as of now, answer to your question is: You can not take the rr grade all the way from Townsend to Long Lake.

Thanks for the info, i'll keep watching to see if anyone posts when it is open. Going to end in Watersmeet on Thursday so may have to go via Argonne/ Hiles/ Three Lakes trail out of Laona. How is that area for our trip ? Is there any way around closed gate via roads to get north of bridge at Newald ? I suspect wet areas if we go Argonne trail. 2- 2015 Renegade X's and a 2013 MXZ making this trip.

Argonne/Hiles/Three Lakes will (I Think) all be ridable, but you will run into wet spots in the swamps that have not been groomed!
Another Possible option is when you get to Newald, if gate is locked turn left, "Double Bend Road" right on "Giant Pine Road" right on "Long lake Road" will get you to the rr grade in Long Lake. Note I am not sure if these are all posted snowmobile routes so be advised

I believe this is the route the atvs have been using since the bridge has been out
