I don't get why it wasn't always a law! I don't have time for ppl who bar hop and drink all day and then go mach 20 down the trail past. Esp when snowmobiling insurance is a 50/50 split for both parties.

I'm sure this proposal will raise the ire of many ... but count me amongst those to whom this proposal makes a lot of sense. (Frankly, I am also surprised that it is not thiw way already.)

The first trails were designed to get a sledder from one pit stop to another. You all might not be riding the awesome trail system you are today without the hard work of yesterdays drunks...and the 1 sober guy....LOL

Not that its a good thing but the dnr reports show that the heavy drinkers on sleds usually only wipe themselves out.

Not sure who more laws will be protecting. From the number of sleds I see at bars vs. the zero collisions with a drunk sledder I personally have experienced in 20 years and 60,000 miles, I'd say the vast majority are in control of there sleds.

I drink when I ride and don't apologize for it. How much I drink is my decision, not anyone elses and I know full well there are consequences to every action in life. Personally I'd love to hand out citations to folks for driving while stupid....they far out number the drunks.:pizza:

In addition to making the fines the same, it would also make equal the punishment.
So if you had an OWI in your car and lose your license for a given time, you would also lose your ability to drive a boat, atv, and snowmobile for the same amount of time. You would also lose your ability to drive your car if you got an OWI while operating a boat, snowmobile, and atv.

If this passes, I think we will be seeing a bunch more "appalling" stats where individuals are getting their 7th, 8th, 9th....10th....15th... OWI...heck....by including everything with a spark plug, there will be way more opportunities.....yet amazingly they will still somehow be out of jail and driving? ...so how much safer will we be?
