2016 / 2017 Season Trail Changes

Post by Curly »

Permanent Reroute: Cavour (Mudslingers) north to County Road “O” NST Intersection #50. This permanent reroute initiated to eliminate grooming through a difficult swamp area.
Trail will now go north out of Mudslingers, cross Cemetery Road then turn west and cross Hwy 139 approximately ¼ mile north of 8 / 139 intersection. Travel northwest to Kalata Road, follow Kalata Road north approximately 1 mile then turn northwest into a pine plantation and intersect with County Road “O” east of the Peshtigo River. Then travel west on “O” reaching NST at intersection #50.

Temporary Reroute: Armstrong Creek to Newald trail west of Nelligans Pond. This temporary reroute initiated to accommodate extensive logging operations and rider safety.
Trail will now turn southwest after Nelligans Pond proceed for several miles and intersect with Ross Lake Road. Then travel south on Ross Lake Road for ½ mile and intersect with Aschenbrenner Road. Travel west on Aschenbrenner road for 1 mile to Hwy 139. Cross 139 just south of County “O” (do not travel down “O”) through a small wooded section to Kalata Road, then intersect with new permanent Cavour to “O” NST trail mentioned above.
This tempory reroute is planned for one year only!

Both of these changes will be incorporated on new Forest County trail maps.

We also have a 3rd trail improvement this year!
Thanks to Joe Bildings and his neighbor we have eliminated approximately 1/2 of the road side travel required to visit CJs!
When turning east off the NST to visit CJs, the trail now turns north off the road bed shortly after the 1st Stop Sign, then runs parallel to the road on private property past CJs gas tank to the Bar.
This trail will be groomed so please respect the generosity of the land owner and STAY ON THE TRAIL!

FUel Option

Post by Curly »

This year riders in the Argonne, Crandon & Laona area have another fuel option.
We have been successful in reopening the trail into the Stone Lake Shell C/Store.
At intersection #32 (Spring Pond Road) riders can now turn south and be there in under 3 miles.
Pay at the pump ethanol free premium available 24/7.
We will be grooming this trail on a regular basis.
