Friday Morning Update

Post by Jim »

The trails were "groomed" from Popple River to Armstrong Creek and from Armstrong Creek to Fence yesterday. The tails are rated in poor conditions.

Some sections of trails are better than others.
This isn't one of them.

I drove one of the 4 Florence County groomers to Long Lake yesterday. It was rough and slow. The only decent spots were the wide, flat, unplowed forest roads. Everything else I drove across was rough/rocky/rutted/lack of snow. It was actually worse then I thought it was going to be. I had one spot I couldn't make a hill and had to by-pass that whole section. Which was fine since that is one of the roughest sections between Fence and Long Lake. I chose to by-pass another section because of the abuse on my body and the equipment. Bottom line is yes you can ride and yes you will find some decent sections, but for the most part we are 4-6 inches of wet, heavy, workable snow away from having anything to talk about. One more FYI Florence County did not officially open the trails yet.
