My message to everyone out there is slow the f*** down and let everyone enjoy the pristine trails of the 100 miler. We have some of the most beautiful scenery and national forest in northern Wisconsin, slow down and enjoy it. How can you enjoy a ride through the woods going 60 to 70 miles an hour. Most of these guys are riding as fast as they can to get to the next bar which is even more brilliant, mixing alcohol with speed. Next time you see me out on the trail I will be the plain unmodded snowmobile going at a leisurely safe pace enjoying the trails that are groomers work so hard to maintain. And after you pass me and lose control into the trees I will be the first one to render you assistance but maybe with some hesitation because us snowmobilers need to stick together. Stay safe out there and let us enjoy the trails snow or not for as long as we can.

There's such a thing as riding at a brisk pace but still well under control. Yeah, scenery is cool, but that's not what a lot of people are out there for. They're out there for the thrill, for the rush. Some just take it too far, too fast, and mix in chemicals to the equation that have no place being there.

I ride a mountain-converted sled now. My next sled will be an RMK. It's slowed me down on the trails, which is probably a good thing, but it still feels like I'm going fast. Maybe that's the answer to the speed problem.

i have no problem with going fast or slow. everyone just has to be courtious to each other, if your fast-dont be a dick about it. but also if you are slow same applies for you.

this past weekend i was in the UP (awesome i should add- 2 or 3FT of snow) and we are cruising down the trail pretty good, and we come up on a group of about 30 sleds, going 15 MPH!!! now that is just slow, and of course they all had mirrors on there sleds, and could see us back there. now the nice thing to do it pull to the side (dont even have to stop) and let us by. well no they wouldnt do that. even at the stop signs they didnt allow us by. now in my opinion that is wrong, we all pay for the trails, so we should all work together in enjoying them (faster or slower). I was pretty pissed, and so was our whole group. we had to pass them one by one for ever, i hate passing because it is a dick move but when it is like that for that amount of time....leaves us no choice.

I was going to stay out of this thread because it pops up almost every year. I have a 12 and a 14 year old who are both girls. The 14 year old bought her own snowmobile a couple of years ago and thought she would be nice and let her sister ride it on Sunday. (They both are safety certified). Well they came back mad at each other. The 12 year old saying the 14 year old was driving way too fast and the 14 saying the 12 was driving way to slow. I explained to them that everyone has a comfort level that is different from the next person. To some 30mph maybe way too fast. For others, cruising at 80mph may feel just fine. I personally am against speed limits. Bottom line is if you are driving at a comfortable speed for yourself and you are not endagering other people or wrecking the trails no one should be complaining about you. If your group prefers to drive a lot slower then the group that comes up from behind you, please pull over and let them by. The longer you hold them up, the more the tension continues to increase. I used to have no patience when it came to slower riders not letting faster riders by. But since I never wanted to see speed limits I started to become more patient and either would wait until they finally pulled over, or just stop and take a break and let them get farther ahead.

To sum it all up, no one wins in the snowmobiling community if we fight amoungst ourselves. We need to direct our anger to the people that continue to try and shut down our trails and we also need to continue to respect each others priviledges of being able to ride regardless of the speed we choose.
Remember it is a priviledge and not a right to ride these trails!!!

Now pray for more snow so we can keep riding!!!

Slower riders make me mad. That's why I pull up close to them, braaap my throttle with my race can so they can hear me, then pass them if they don't move over... ha ha. Just kidding. Stock and legal here. :)

Don't forget that you absolutely MUST be standing on the rear of the running boards when you do pass...... cuz that's oh so cool. :thebomb:

I just got back from our sled trip and had a message from my State Assembly man. He said there is NO legislation in as of now for day time speed limits. He said he would be opposed to them if they did come up. The night time speed limit is the only law they mutually agreed upon. Due to most deadly accidents occurring at night due to high speeds. Just for your information!!

LOL...I love it cause thats my move. And yes I am stock and perfectly legal to!

And about the speed thing...I am fine with people going slow but please when you do have the mirrors and even if you dont have the mirrors you do turn around to look behind you, pull over and let the people that want to go fast by.
