we usually do something like go south to wabeno, over to laona then up to armstrong creek to argonne and back down i think, or something like that. anyone know what kind of trip it would be to go from laona or crandon and up to long lake/alvin and back down to three lakes and down to argonne and south to crandon/laona?? dont know how long the snow will last so i want to get in one good weekend yet... thanks
Long day trips on a saturday, depend on temp and fresh snow. If cold with no recent snow go for it. If temps are in the mid-twenties or warmer, or if there was more then a couple of inches of fresh snow on a Friday, chances are the trails will not be as good of shape Sat. evening as they are in the morning. Generally, the warmer the temps on Sat. the quicker the trails will break down. Soft trails on Sat. morning, usually means bumpy trails on Sat. afternoon. Naturally, it depends on trafdfic. And, this year traffic has been spread thoughout the state, so trails have usually held up better. Plan your route, so you will be on less traveled trails in the afternoon. Good luck.

Good long day ride.
Go to Lakewood, over to Crivitz ,up to Wausaukee ,up to Amberg and over to Cavour/Laona this is a good long day trip. (very nice lots of nice stops as well)
day trip
we left from Kohlsville WI, which is 10 mi West of west bend. We went through the following towns: Theresa, Brownsville, Waupun, Ripon, Ogdensburg, Poy Sippi, Scandanavia, Iola, Waupaca, Wittenbug, Tigerton, Antigo, Pickerell, and Laona. We went that far West to drive around the lakes. On the return trip, (which I didn't make) the guys went straight down corridor 7 (RR grade) to Pulaski and GB, then down across the lake. It was 250 miles on the return trip and only took them 6 hours, compared to 326 miles and 13 hours (including 2 stops) on the way up. There was plenty of snow everywhere.

I was already riding for the weekend when you wrote this! If your coming up again this coming weekend let me know I could make a few suggestions. Had my yearly group up this past weekend for 5 days and we had some great 225+ ride days.
