Gas Prices!!

Post by I Doo »

Will gas prices now at $3.23 per gallon as of this afternoon and forecast to go another 20 cents per gallon at least keep you from snowmobiling? What would be the magic number to cause you to throw in the towel?

probably not until it was close to $5 a gallon and then i would only cut back on the miles i went.

we keep the sleds at the cabin so no hauling fuel cost, just the cost of gas in the gas efficient ford focus

cost of gas

Instead of not riding,
Consider a sled that gets better fuel economy.
Some sleds are getting 20 mpg!!
Dont get me wrong , spending alot of money on gas makes me mad too!
But every year there are more models that are getting better gas mileage.
(I wish my sled got 20 m.p.g.!!!!!!!!!!!!!  )

Yeah.... when it's being towed behind another one. ;-)

I've heard the fellers at Appleton Powersports say some of the Yami models are getting 22, 23, 24 mpg. That'd be a vast improvement over the 8-9 that I saw at times last year. With gas prices what they are now, and getting worse every day, maybe it'll thin out some of the fodder that poisons our trails each season.
I heard on the news yesterday Gov. Doyle re-enacted last year's 55mph nighttime speed limit effective through 2010 or something.
Anybody else been keeping an eye on JohnDee.com? Hopefully his 07-08 outlook is an understatement- it'd be nice to have a full 3-4 months of riding again for a change.

Yeah I have to agree with Townsend Chris! My sled gets an easy 20+ which was a huge surprise, and it's even more surprising to those that you ride with that don't get it! The other thing that is nice with the new 2 strokes (Ski-Doo) is the oil consumption is really low! I don't have an exact number but I think it's about 300 - 400 miles to a quart VS 100 miles. Anyway, I don't think this is a good poll to answer, who knows who reads this?

Sounds like ski doo has come a long way in a short time in fuel efficiency.
The early revs were getting 10 to 12.:(
The 3 cyl. yammie tanks we ride are getting 20 mpg's :D
Vipers avg. 14 to 17.:)
Is it snowing yet????
