I believe it is state law that opening day for Snowmobiling cannot be any sooner then the 15th regardless of snow cover. :(

On another note, it is great to see the predictions, John Dee has us slated for another 4" or so next week as well with below average temperatures! We could have one heck of a nice base when things open up!
Just wanted to point out that I said "believe" doesn't mean that I know or think I am right. I just remember hearing that a few years ago. It could be different county by county based on snow fall?

Hey Toolman, you probably right about the law, In Waukesha we just found out the the trails can open at anytime beacause the insurance is put in place by the county park and rec. We were always told that the trails could not open until the 15th because of insurance. Now the problem is Deer hunting

for years now it has been because of hunting. it was the muzzleloader season first now its both muzzle and antlerless hunt.

I just know I wouldnt want to be cruising by some crazy guy and get shot at because I was interrupting his deer hunt...

Well if you do that there are going to be millions of knuckle heads going out on the closed trails. It would be nice if they could do that and no one would go out but thats just not going to happen unfortunately.

is there any way to keep the gates closed while grooming? if not, the trails will probalby be junk if a good base cant be built first. just a thought.

It will be interesting to see how much snow we get today. I think it was on John Dee that he was saying another 4" - 6" this coming week and below average temps! Depending on how much we get today we could have one heck of a nice base!

I did some digging over the weekend and it appears that it is a law that the trails can't open till Deer Seasons is over. I believe that this can be different from county to county depending on the zones? I'm not a hunting so I am not sure how that works. Anyway, it goes county by county and it sounds like it can be different from county to county. Deer hunting is done on December 9th in Oconto County and with enough snow trails can legally open on the 10th. Taylor was the same, I didn't see Forest.
