Trails
That really bites, tearing up the freshly groomed trails.
I hate to stirr up trouble, but I dread the day when A.T.V.s and snowmobiles
are running all the same trails in winter, and they allready can run the NIC.REC.TRAIL. (when its open) in Forest CO.
Next year I was told they will be able to run the Oconto CO. section of
the NIC. TRAIL also.
I remember quite well running the mountain bay trail thru shawano county
a few years back, it had just been groomed, and here comes a group of
A.T.V.s comeing at us, they were useing the whole trail fish tailing
all over in the soft snow with those big tires, its not that they were trying to be distructive, they could not keep the 4 wheelers straight in the soft snow,20 miles of junk trails followed . And it was all legal, a multi use trail.
I dont hate A.T.V.s, i have owned them for 19 years.
Even worked on Polaris and Arctic Cat 4 wheelers
at the dealership level for 14 years, they are alot of fun.
But you wont ever convince me that running them on the same trails as sleds
is going to be benificial to everyone.

Hear! Hear!
I agree. I'll give you 9 mos if you give me 3!!
Jim your right! Why should ATV's be allowed all year round when they already have 9 months of use? So for 3 months they have the right to wreck it for all the snowmobilers? Damn.....that's messed up...... I would think there would be a huge lobby with the snowmobile Mfg's ,equipment Mfg's to keep that from going through, and from the local businesses that thrive from the revenues created from snowmobilers. I'm sure that ATV's create revenue to some degree but not nearly the same as sleds!

ATV's on Nicolet Trail
As far as I know ATV's are legal on the Forest Co. part of the Nicolet Trail, except when closed for spring breakup. In my eye's, a big mistake!!!!
