Trails opening?

Post by kuczala_21 »

I was informed today, that on dec 21 the Forest County trails would be opening.. Roger or Jim is this true. How are things looking out on the trails and do you think they will hold up well if we see some heavy traffic.

That's the last I heard. We need more snow to make them really good.

why so late? Of course I mean if there is enough snow, then why not the 15th.
Or is there ANOTHER deer season I'm not aware of???

Trail Opening

Post by Johnnie »

Forest Co. is shooting for opening snowmobile trails Dec 21st, weather and snow permitting. Believe it or not I feel we could use a good rain. Rain is the only thing which makes a good ice base. And without an ice base, corners will be washed to dirt, even if we have 2 feet of snow. With the power of the new machines, ice is the only thing which can stay in the corners. You can talk about hard pack, or wet snows, but in the end it is ice or dirt in the corners.
