Races
Made a quick stop there via snowmo trail on saturday.
Looked like a bigger spectator turn out this
time. Hopefully it will be a yearly event.

well i was racing there this weekend and well i didnt even get to race and i was in the Emergency room lol. sat during morning practice is when i took the spill over the big finish jump. Friday during practice I hit it amazing so many times (the first weekend racing there I was too much of a ***** to hit it) i went out sat morn to practice and they put my class(novice) with the junior class. I was the only one that could clear any of the jumps, everyone else would roll them or come up short and case. so i was being held up and couldnt practice really jumping. so we went off when our time was up, well i came off the track went to my dad and said i couldnt hit the jumps im going out with faster guys. so i turned around and went right back onto the track, first lap came up to the jump held her wide open almost(like an idiot, wanted to make sure i cleared it) well i overshot it by about 15 feet!!! needless to say my arm stength could not support such a hard flat spot landing and the handlebars went straight up my jaw shattering it at the pivot points, braking it at my chin, and shattered 3 teeth. almost got flight for life from antigo hospital to marshfield but they said the heli would ice up.
the thing that pissed the hospitals off is that the EMTs at the track cleared me as just having broken teeth and i should just go to the clinic. well me not being retarted goes um my jaw is up past my brain we need the ER. I didnt even get a ambulance ride! the marshfield doctor had to leave the room he was so upset when he heard this. every nurse and doctor at marshfield said they were going to call and get why I did not get the right treatment! Basically my jaw was hanging loose by my mouth muscles. at anytime the muscles could have let go and the jaw would have crushed my throat up and i would have died, there would have been a few miture window to get me into surgery to save me. I was very lucky it held up for a day almost b4 i got into surgury after all the examination and scans and ****. but i got into surgery right away sunday morn at 8am and was out at 11am. all went real well and I am doing great. Was released from ICU only after a day to go home. I lucked out and did not need a trake to breath. So i have no hole in my throat(thank god). basically I had friends from above looking over me and saved my life in this whole thing.
I will post pics if i can ever get them.

Sorry to hear that bud, hope your doing better. Probably eating through a straw now huh? Its amazing how some guys get licensed to be an EMT. I myself am a first responder on a full time fire dept. and see first hand how some of these guys think they dont have to do the basics because they have more training than us. Get well soon
WHOA!
Glad to hear you are gonna make it through this crash!
I'm an "older" guy, but just once I'd like to catch some air like you racer types do...Probably never gonna happen after hearing your story!
I went through elective upper jaw surgery back in 92 and had mine wired shut for 6 weeks.
Its amazing how good some things can taste out of a blender through a straw!!!!
2 words for you.. POT PIES!.... THERE AWESOME!
GOOD LUCK, YOUNG MAN YOU HAVE A BIGGER SET THAN ME.

Sorry to hear about the jaw. My friend did not make a double one time on a bike and ended landing upside down, We were at a AMA District 16 race in Buffalo county, They took him right to the hospital.
When I rode past the races on Sunday it looked like the pits were empty and I saw only about 10 sleds parked for spectators and no cars in the lot. It must be hard to hold a race with out a good turn out. I then heard down in SE WI that alot of racers were not going to go this past weekend because of track safety. It's got to hurt landing on dirt made jumps instead of all snow. Just my thoughts

We stopped by there Saturday for an hour or so. Pretty interesting to watch. I would love to get into it but don't have the sled for racing. Saw a couple wrecks but for the most part there were not any close races from the ones we watched. It did seem like the doo's and the IQ's were dominating the field. The cats always seemed to be at the back of the group:eek:

Yes I went on Friday to watch practice and was going to take my son to race on Sunday but my wife wasn't happy that the little kids had to hit that huge jump and yes I think she was right the kids didn't have to use that big jump, they don't at Lake Geneva. Maybe if they have more races they can get better at it. I'm surprise since Scotty used to do the Chilton races.
Hope you are feeling better.
