Groomer Mileage
Grooming
I feel there was a great response to the groomer mile issue
I've always wondered what it took to groom trails down here and in the great northwoods:king: Even though we've had some excellent conditions in our area:shrug: there's nothing as good as the Forest county trails  I now have a much greater respect for the clubs that put out so much time and effort to make the short season as enjoyable as possible:sledder: This last friday I went sledding all day and it was the best I've been on ever! It's a real shame to see it all melt in just days:mad: I can hardly wait to get up north sometime this year:cheers: My hats off to all the clubs for such a great job:thumbup:

Dodge County Trail Signage
The Dodge County Trail Signage left a lot to be desired. Even with a map, (which I did have), there are trails that exist but are not on the map and the intersections do not always tell you where they go, (as you said). If you have an older map of the county, (pre-2005), toss it out. Many of the trails have changed.
The one thing that bothered me during my 200 plus miles of riding around Dodge County was the number of trail signs that were knocked down and people just rode over them. I personally put over a dozen signs back up and cleaned a lot of them off so other riders could see them.
Pray for snow and ride safe everyone.

the signage in dodge county is horrible!!
a group of us, 7, had younger riders 19-21, and adults and we were driving circles and what not for a good 3 hours confused. there are trails marked on the "updated" maps that werent really there. the poor signage starts in the western part of washington county. its lucky we kinda knew the streets, roads and hiways other wise we'd still be out there
we were all a little frustraded to say the least!! but like we said at least the trails were smooth and enjoyable to be lost/confused on!!

I am an active member & officer of a club in western Washington County. Our trail system abuts the Dodge County system at the county line. You have to realize the window we have for putting in the trails in this area. We are constantly monitoring crop harvesting and fall tillage progress so we can get out there and put in the trails. We have an average of 4-5 landowners per mile of trail we need to cooperate with in order to keep our trails year to year. Add things like deer hunting, rain/snow on the weekends and it gets difficult to get everything done before it freezes up. If you don't belong to a club, join today and get involved. There is no such thing as too much manpower when it comes to trail marking, brushing, rerouting, bridge building/maintenance, etc. Before last year's snow season, a group of club members traveled 150 miles to help brush a section of 100 miler trail, and had an enjoyable time doing it!!
I dont care where you ride you will always find poorly marked trails.I too spent many years and countless hours marking trails, not an easy task!!! No matter where your riding you have to have some sense of direction or you be frustrated all day trying to follow a map.We only use a map to find a nice trail loop so we dont go back on the same trail.Sometimes getting a little lost puts you on some great new trails:thumbup:
The problem is'nt being poorly marked (there's plenty of arrows ) it's when you get to an intersection and you have three or four arrows but no signs telling you where they go . Sense of direction does'nt help either , you know there are trails that head north and three miles later your going south or visa versa .
maybe they could use a magic marker on the arrows when they put them in ,that's how we marked trails years ago .
I was'nt trying to p--s anybody off when i started this , if i did, i'm sorry .
I think Washington & Dodge are great riding when there's snow .
