Snow Making Equipment
Snow Making Equipment
Anybody have any experience with snow making equipment?? :p I did a quick search on Google for snow making equipment and found a couple of links to some interesting products. I even found a link to some free home plans to build your own. Now, I'm wondering... If something similiar could be used to help our trails. Any thoughts??

Jim all you need for making your own is some pipe, a pressure washer, and a air compressor.. You want to make a Y fitting... Installed the end of the pressure washer into one end and the air compressor into the other.. The snow or small water particles will come out the bottom of the Y.. Basically your taking the highpressure water from the washer and forcing it to meet with the compressed air. This causes the particles of water to break down to a mist. When cold enough it will form snow like crystals. Pretty simple to do if you have all the right end pieces to connect everything.. We actually had one down at college the past two season. Our roomate use to make snow on his back hill for snowboarding.
snow making equipment on the groomer would be nice, but you would be using alot of water.. The equipment at the ski hill runs all night just to make some good conditons for the hill.. It would be nice for them bad spots that seem to always be junk. For instance set one up by Chenny's Restaurant in Laona.. That section along the road gets hit by the sun no matter what and always seems to be more gravel the snow.. (maybe a mobil one that can be moved to certain sections of trails and the moved again and again).. Boy what a dream lol

Our snowmobile club has a snow machine and a large generator to power it. We use it for the USSA Snocross / ice oval races we do every year. Ours will be held this weekend and yes we have lots of snow and ice yet.

QUESTION? WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR SNOWMOBILE, DOES IT RETURN THE FAVOR??

Jim I can get you a 550 Gallon plastic tank that is used for a trailer mount pretty easily.... Wonder how much snow that would make? It would be cool to be able to make snow on the spot when you had bad areas! Perhaps 2 tanks on the drag? 3? I was able to get in 650 miles so far....... I don't trailer (well that because I don't own one, I need to get one) so I ride from my place which is right on one of the trails in Townsend.
