speaking of being leary of venturing too far from the grade,...looking for new trails to ride, on sat., we headed out to the pickeral lk. area with plans on getting out as far as Antigo.
We went without a map and just started riding. Once on the pickeral trails we found that our route, while never actually being on the same trail twice, became impossible to leave the area.
seemed as if we would ride for a 1/2 hour or so and still be within 5 miles of pickeral/pickeral lk. area. just kept looping around on different trail. we was locked into the pickeral triangle or some such pheneominon.

Pickeral lake/ Pickeral area is a little tricky, I take the Lily turn off , from the
100 miler to go to Lily and (or) the Antigo area. The Lily turn off is a left
turn as you are heading west on the 100 miler a couple miles west of the
100 miler LMT spilt. (Windfall Lake Area)(West of Carter)

Pickerel

Post by Johnnie »

When riding in the Pickerel area, remember there are (3) Pickerels!!!!! (1) Pickerel Lake, (2) The town of Pickerel, and (3) the Pickerel area which encompasses both, so read the signs very carefully, or you could be going in circles for hours!!!!

That's funny you said that. We call the area the Pickerel triangle. While trying to get off the lake we circle around and entered the lake 4 different times on different trails. We couldn't get off either. Now it's a big joke in our group don't go close to Pickerel you will get sucked in.
