When do the trails close

Post by LIL GIRL »

Besides the weather telling us when it is over. Is there an official date when the trails close. I am planning on comming up this weekend and maybe going for a small ride depending on the snow conditions and was just wondering if the gates are closing on the 15th like in the past. If any one knows this would help alot for making my weekend plans.

April 1st -- and that's no fooling! :p That's if conditions permit, otherwise it's March 15th.

Paul and I put on 130 miles just yesterday, and for the most part, the conditions were excellent. There are couple bare/thin/icy spots, but overall, very enjoyable. The plowed roads, however are taking a toll. So, plan accordingly. The forecast keeps changing (for the better) too. Keep your fingers crossed. Parker will be heading South tonight. Check back later for his report.

In Forest COunty there is no magical date when trails close. This question come up every year. The latest we have groomed was April 8th in 1996. The trails in Forest County will remain open as long as they can be safely rode. Again, here is Forest Co., we could have trails open into May if conditions permitted. But common sense tells us it will be much sooner. SOme counties have set dates with their landowners, BUT not Forest Co.
