Forest County Snowmobile Trails Closed
Forest County Snowmobile Trails Closed
Forest County Snowmobile Trails officially closed Wednesday, April 2, 2008.
I realize the trails are officially closed, but can I still legally boondock down some of the unplowed roads around my cabin? What if some of these roads happen to also be snowmobile trails? Also, what about the lakes? (This post is probably too late now as the snow is melting fast, but I am curious about the legalities more than anything now.)
For the record, I am not looking to ride any private land or national forest roads or trails but rather ride on paper company logging roads, unplowed town roads etc.

I think any unplowed road would be fair game, I just can't remember if there was a 4" minimum snow depth. Seems like I remember something about 4". I don't believe that we (the 100 Miler) have any trails that cross lakes due to insurance purposes. I would probably advise everybody to stay off the lakes, just to be on the safe side. It's like the old adage: what's the best way to avoid a shark bite? Don't go in the water. What's the best way to avoid going through the ice? Don't go on the ice! :thebomb:
