When the Forest plan was first being discussed the Pres of AWSC went to the meeting in Waukesha, that was several years ago.
I stopped at the Forest station in Lakewood and got the three proposed plans on large maps. Plan 2 is not good for anyone the wants to go into the woods other than by foot.
If we can't get plan 1 ( no change in the roads ) then plan three is the best for are area, I'm sure plan 3 will not be good in the other forest sections
Everyone needs to send a letter to the forest planner and voice there opinons before August 13th
I read in my lastest WI Outdoor News that the National Forest Road Closures aren't going to happen immediatly. The plans are going to be open for discussion in 2009. I am not saying this problem is going away, but at least the public has some input now.
I just contacted Joan Marburger, Project Coordinator, Chequamegon-Nicolet NF, 715-762-5178 and asked about the Forest Management Plan.
I had also heard that the plan was put on hold at the August Waukesha county meeting. The decision is going to be made in mid September with the plan going into effect January 2009. They are still taking comments, some of the roads could be removed or some added after this last comment period.
Joan also stated that the forest would be reviewed each year and changes made after the review
The trail that you take in the woods from your house to get to the main trail may be closed this winter

Now your getting the picture !!!
You can blame SLICK WILLIE for this , he signed the Wilderness bill during his last two months in office .
Check out the Seiarra Club --- Earth First --- Bluewater or any the "enviromental " activest web sites and you'll see that's their idea .
Better yet , check out the BLUE RIBBON COALITION , join them and donate to the cause . The've been fighing these retards for years .
I have dug through many of the articles in the links on the website, and they all state that these proposed closures do not affect snowmobiles. Am I missing something? Why do these closures upset everyone so much if that is the case?

How many people believe a politician that they will not raise taxes when they get into office.
If the DNR is going to close any land to OVR's sometime, somewhere it will trickle down to the snowmobiles
