State corridor 7

Post by indanortwoods »

Has anyone ever taken corridor 7 from Laona area to Allenton/West Bend area?

How was it ?

Is this a lot of field riding (fast)?:taz:

Lot of Forest (not as fast but scenic)?

Is there any pointers to short cuts (Boduel area maybe, seems like a lot of intersections)?

How long do You think averaging 40mph. :sledder:

Are you able to access the Wiouwash Trail south of lake butte des morts

It would be nice to be able to go from the Eisenbahn to the Wiouwash to the New London/Seymour to the Nicolet RR grades

I think by car it must be 180 miles, by sled it will be around 250. I don't think that you would be able to average 45 miles per hour because of all the stop signs. Better plan on 35 miles per hour. So that would be about 7-1/2 hours of riding, plan on three gas stops and lunch. I see it as start very early 6am and hope to have supper in Laona. I think that I would try to take corridor 9 north. I have look at doing the 7 from SE WI and I think when you get to Green Bay it may be difficult getting though. One of the members in my club said that people go across the bay to save time, for me that is too much distance between the sled and shore. Good luck:thumbup:

Yeah i here you there... plus the ice on a lake that size is to unpredictable for me.

but i still wonder if one could access the wiouwash trail, which goes in between winne and butte that would be a good shorcut in itself.

red baron could probably help you out if you PM him by clicking on "community" or he might also see this post.
He rode to Laona from the Kewaskum area. Good luck.

I'm not sure the route a friend of mine took, but he left Wabeno at 8 am on a sunday last year by himself! It was miserable weather with freezing rain and sleet almost all the way to Hartford, Wi. He arrived at Pike Lake around 10 pm that night:sleep: He said he stopped for gas twice and put on about 296 miles:coolcat: He said he did get lost a few times and only stopped for gas and a gas station burger:sick: Kudos to him, we all thought he was crazy for doing the trip alone:king:

I was in a local drinking establishment in Townsend prior to Christmas and I had some guys tell me (try to tell me) that they had done 300 miles in 4 hours, which at this point I am still not believing! My response was that they must have been riding on grades / straight aways where they could go 100+ for long periods of time to have their speed average out to 75 mph, which they assured me was not the case, that alot of it was forest - twisty trails. I know I can do 125 miles riding on those types of trails in about 3 1/4 hours by myself, and hearing that it took 14 to go from Wabeno to Hartford doesn't surprise me at all, I believe the norm is around 10. Am I wacked that I don't believe 300 in four hours?

Not at all. Probably the same batch of guys that tried to tell me about their bone-stock 96mph Phazer last year... :rotflmao:

There's no way they could average 75 MPH for 4 hours. I just don't think that's going to happen, unless they were on an oval track!

I find I average around 35 MPH when riding through the woods. I couldn't tell you if that's fast, slow, or the mean-- but it's just right for me. I am sure there are others that go faster, but there is no way they could of done that.

They say, "A snowmobile will last you a lifetime, if you ride it fast enough!" :slywink:

Ride safe... and be on the lookout for some speed demons trying to break the land speed record!
