Weekend Riding
Anyone rock The Grade from Laona north to Tipler over the weekend?
If so, what were your thoughts about the trail condition?

Very choppy til you entered Forest Co., then less choppy, but still choppy.
Hard edged chop like that is the worst stuff to ride, it has bad character and is like getting teeth drilled, just bear it til its over.
Although it was the best I would have expected with the warm up and lack of new snow. That old stuff is worn out.....

The NST Grade from CTH O north all the way to JCT 5 (BlueOx Trails) would of been groomed by Dickey on Tuesday when he groomed North/West. My trails pics didn't go that far North. I was under time constraints that prevented me from going that far North, not to mention the cold. I also decided to turn around before I hit that logging section just east of Nelligan Pond when I was heading North. The only 'eyesore' IMO of our system. Usually the logging sections aren't too bad, like through the Connor's land. They seem to do what they can for the snowmobiles and will try to leave us a small base. But some over zealous fellow with a cat dozer not only tried to remove all the snow from the trail, but the dirt as well! Talking with sources related to the loggers, they have no control over who does the 'dozer work'. It seems to be contract work mandated/regulated by some state agency. But you know... maybe the dozer guy wasn't even aware of the fact that a snowmobile trail went through there. They should have a hotline number for us, like they do that diggers hotline. You're required to call the Snow Route Hotline before any plowing on a previous unplowed road. :slywink:
Areas to avoid-logging
Where specifically are the logging areas-to avoid? Hoping to get up to the area this weekend.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Boy I wish that I was coming up this weekend. This is the first weekend that I will not be up north. Need to stay down home and help out at my clubs race, but the good news never go anywhere with out your sled. I have it setup for drags and maybe with a few adjustments the ovals.
If you are going to be stuck at home in the southern part of the state, instead of watching all of the good posts, saying how great the riding is in forest county come on out the the races in New Berlin. Admission is only $8.00 and show your AWSC card and get a free coffee or hot choco
