Why is it that year after year -weekend after weekend 100 miler trails are always better maintained (groomed) than other clubs in the area:shrug:
PAID???
I can honestly say that I'm not in it for the money either.
But to answer the original question....one simple word...PRIDE.
Pride of doing the job right the first time....
Pride of the equipment being used to do the job......
Pride of working for an EXCELLENT club......
Pride of having fellow professionals to work with.....
Pride of being able to perform the work for some of the best customers in the world.......YOU our trail users.

Treating the customers like I like to be treated, and I like to be treated like a king! :king: That, and my middle name is "FULL SERVICE". Doing the job, even when you're not feeling quite up to par. I've always considered myself a volunteer, even if they pay me for grooming. I've always donated my time and money to the club, and that included grooming. But let's face it, times are tough now. What they pay us an hour isn't much, but it's something, and that's more than what some people have. I also accept it for insurance purposes, so that I'm on the books. But a job is a job, and just because someone's getting paid to do that job, doesn't mean they're doing it well! 
It's that pride thing again. And let's not forget that I was trained by the infamous Trail Master himself, Dick Leja. I donated many hours while training under his guidance. I enjoy doing it, and it's a worthwhile cause: Your Enjoyment. The ability to be able to give such a gift, is quite unique. :thebomb: Everything I do on the website is all volunteered. I don't get paid anything: Not for my time, Not for the Software Purchases, Domain Fees, Hosting Fees, Etc. But I don't worry about that right now, because I'm in this for the long haul. You reap what you sow. I know I'll get my just rewards later. 
I also donate my time as a member of the board as well. But like I said, it's a worthwhile cause, with a great supporting cast. It's an honor and a pleasure to be associated with a club of such high caliber like the 100 Mile Snow Safari. And I'll do everything I can to maintain such high standards, that make us unique, and sets us apart from the rest.

grooming
Jim you hit it right on the head. I belong to a smaller club and also volunteer my time to do some grooming. It's not as fun as it sounds to spend 6 to 8 hours behind the wheel of a groomer. But it's the love of the sport and all of the thumbs up from the riders that makes it worth while. Your trails are the best in the state. Keep up the great work.:thumbup:

i have seen guys in the UP getting paid to drive the groomer and they do a terrible job. They aren't sledders, they are just whomever would take the job. I have seen them driving around with the blades up in the air "pay is the same" they said. There is definitely pride in the 100 miler groomers, they rock.
