I'm sure when haboo gets done bathing in the ganges he'll get back to pretending to fix the problem:shrug:
What's the Difference between a Static IP and a Hole in the Firewall?

I just got off the phone with another tech. At least this guy took the time to *listen* and *read* the previous notes, and understands what is going on. He confirmed that this present 24-48 hour thing was exactly what they tried doing with the previous 24-48 hours. And although this guy understands the issue here, He and I are still at the mercy of their other "world-class" technicians. And therefore, the issue is still unresolved. Consequently, I am still getting a dynamic IP address assigned. This means, that from time to time, the server’s IP address may change. Then I'll have to update the DNS. During this process, you could experience some service related issues. Please accept CenturyLink’s sincere apologies while they try to ascertain what the difference is between a static IP and a hole in the firewall. :thebomb:
Nothing like good customer service:sick:
More like "Nothing is customer service" when it comes to CenturyLink. I think I'd have more sucess with a Burger King call center, at least I might be able to get a side order of french-fries with that!

No fix as of yet. I am still dealing with a dynamic IP, but the work-around seems to be working so far. I am going to wait until later to start yanking their chains. Why ruin a good day so early?

I'm back on hold with CenturyLink, trying to get an update to this problem. I had to reboot the DSL modem, and the IP address changed. If any member sees this message, please reply, just so I know that the outside world can see me again! Thanks.

Never mind. I got a couple of spiders on the forum, so I know the outside world is looking in. I'm still on the phone with CenturyLink, and back on hold. Oh lovely...
Yeah, I'm not like CenturyLink. I work around the clock if needed. I have finally exhausted all of CenturyTel's world-class technicians, and I'm going to do what I should of done in the first place. I'm just going to cancel the static IP...... and then reorder it as a new install. But of course, I'll have to wait until CenturyLink's world-class CSR's wake up and check-in with the rest of the real world...

I called CenturyLink to cancel and reorder the static IP address. The nice lady on the other end, said it would take some time, and that she would call me back. That was about an hour ago, and I still haven't heard anything. We had a little hiccup a couple of minutes ago, but everything seems to be working fine now.
