past sleds?? what did you ride before updating
Looks like a good number of you boys is spoiled on new equipment. Machines have come a long way in just 10 years. I bet there aren't many that remember having their scarves sucked into those old Sachs carburetors that stuck out right in your gut. If I hear one person say "what's a carburetor?
" I'm gonna scream!!!
In reverse order the machines in my immediate family have been:
02 MXZX 800
02 MXZ 500 trail
98 MXZ 583
94 Vmax 500 & 96 Vmax 600
84 Phazer
84 Enticer 340
81 SS440
80? 79? Blizzard 5500 and same model year Blizzard 9500
77? 78? RV 340
Before we owned any in my direct family, we shared with other extended family members from a whole pool of stuff:
early 70s Panther, early 70s Skiroule something or other (I was young at the time, I only remember that the machine was absolutely enormous and nicknamed "Kermit" for its ugly green color); 71 Rupp; 79 Enticer 340; mid 70s Raider 440; and several others that I couldn't name.
In fact on occasion we still use that Raider to do white tornadoes and up until a few years ago used the Panther to pull a homebuilt trail drag around local property.

Um....... add another 2002 MXZX 800 to the lineup- just found a steal on ebay. I just gotta get it operational before the snow flies. I will probably sell this one at the end of the season if anybody is pre-interested.

Past sleds ridden and owned
The first sled I ever rode was a buddy's 1972 Arctic Cat Panther in 1988-1990 seasons. It tipped over easily and had no suspension to speak of, but it went 70 and was a great learner sled. Soon thereafter, bought a late-model 1990 Ski Doo MX 470, and rode that 1991-2000. Sold it and bought a used 1998 MXZ 500 and a beater 1987 Yamaha Phazer. Kept the '98 for a spare, sold the Phazer and bought a used 1999 MXZ 600 in 2002. Rode that until 2004, then sold both MXZs and bought a beautiful new non-current black 2003 Ski-Doo Legend SE 700. That unfortunately got crashed its first season on the trail
so it was replaced with a new-non-current 2004 Ski-Doo GSX 600 H.O. in spring 2005 and it's still going strong! REV Rocks!
I've also ridden Polaris EDGE 500 and 600, Polaris Fusion 700 (Polaris' biggest embarrassment ever), 1996 Arctic Cat ZRT 600 and 1997 ZRT 800 modified (scary fast), 1998 Ski Doo Mach I 700 triple, and a few others. My favorite so far has been the REV, hands down. The fastest so far must've been the mod 1997 ZRT 800 triple. Torque monster!
