The static IP address seems to be holding (for the moment), and that's good news.
I am still trying to work out the bugs with the email server configuration.
I shut down the server moments ago, so I could upgrade the Random Access Memory (RAM).
Two days .....and counting! So far, Jim, its holding! But then, there never was any doubt was there??!!:thumbup:

Nice job!! :thumbup::slywink:

High Winds

Post by Jim »

CenturyLink had a short outage yesterday morning due to high winds, and we were down for a couple of hours. I know right when it happened, because there was a surge on the power line, and the alarms on the UPSs went off. I called it in right away, but I had a hard time trying to convince CenturyLink’s world-class technicians of the problem. I even told them we were having high winds, and about the power surge, and how the internet stopped working right after that. Instead, the tech wanted to know how many phones I had on my line, and wanted me to start checking my DSL filters. It was at that point, I just hung up on him. When he called back, I answered the phone by telling him that they had an outage and to fix it, and to quit wasting my time. Then I hung up on him again. I was surprised my telephone was even working! LOL. I then called another neighbor, who confirmed their DSL was down as well. I also found out that some people didn’t even have power. I called CenturyLink back AGAIN. This time, I reported it as an OUTAGE and not a PROBLEM. Of course, the world-class technician replied that they had no outages reported in my area. To which I replied, “Well, someone has to be the first one to report it, and I’m that first one!” :thebomb:

Of course! You wouldn't want to put this fine young man out on the street any sooner than what CenturyLink is going to, do you? After all, a retard of that
caliber is difficult to find!!

Sounds like "Presidential" material!! And national elections are comin' up!
