Brushing Weekend 2012

Post by Jim »

Many have asked about Brushing Day. It is usually held on the First Saturday in December, which is December 1st this year. Please do the same sections as last year. If you would like to do some brushing earlier, contact Muskie, Dick Leja, Roger, or Me. Please check back later for any changes and/or updates. Thanks!

Brushing Day

Post by Johnnie »

Dec 1st is this year's brushing day and party. Because of some high winds this year, we would accept any help before then also. Just contact us and we will assign you a portion of trail to brush. Thanks again to our great brushing team.

Sat. Dec 1 Brushing Day

Post by Johnnie »

Just a reminder about this coming Saturday's brushing day. Most of the regulars already have been designated portions of the trail to check out and widen. All new guys and gals either check with Johnnie, Jim or Roger. Roger's group will meet Sat. morning about 9@ Wabeno Citgo. I believe he will have some of you again widening the rail corridor south of Wabeno and the Rat River trail toward Christmas Tree. If you are cutting larger trees to widen the trail, please try to try to have them get all the way to the ground.. Last year we had some complaints from the county. I think Jim might need some extra help between Newald and Armstrong Cr. I heard there was a wing storm that hit part of that trail.
Bring saws, trucks, ATV's and a strong back.
We will again be meeting at T-Bobs about darkish for food and refreshments.
And any of the Armstrong Cr. workers who are too worn out from brushing to make the trip to Laona can run a bar tab at either Den&Rens or the Green Shack.

we are coming up with a dozen men. Actually, 7 men and 5 boys. We'll see everyone at T-Bobs Saturday night. Or Johnnies Friday night as I hear he is buying kraut bombs for all brushing crews.

Brushing

The Armstrong Crew will be brushing the new section North of town and inspecting any accessible sections between Nelligan Pond North toward the NST. Heavy winds destroyed some large sections of timber in the Newald , Long Lake and Tipler areas. PLEASE , take a moment to discuss saftey ,and remember to look up !! See you Saturday

Brushing Day Huge Success

Post by Johnnie »

We had 67 Volunteers who helped this last Saturday clear and widen our trails for the upcoming season. Thanks to these volunteers the whole 100 Miler should be ready for snow. I was great to see more children and women this year. We like the idea of getting the whole family involved. Barb took the annual group pic, but then headed to Florida, so I can't post it, But the Red Baron sent a pic of his group of Kohlsville Kruisers who brushed from Armstrong Cr. south to the swamp. Thanks again to everyone. We had a great meal at T-Bobs. Thanks for keeping the bar bill to 3 digits!!!!

Glad to hear brushing was a success. Wish I could have been there. First year I have missed in five years. Of course if I was there, the bar bill might not have been only three digits.

Thanks to everyone who helped out. :trophy:
