Laona and Wabeno Areas

Post by Johnnie »

Anyone interested in helping brush trails Sat. Dec 2., please meet at the CItco in Wabeno at 9 am. We will be heading out to the tail from LMT 8 to the Rat River Rd. This is the long grade with the two big bridges. This trail needs work the most in that area. Anyone who talked to me before can do the areas we talked about. Don't forget, we will be meeting at Wild Rose after for food and refreshments!!!!! Johnnie

If you have never gone out to help brush a trail you would be surprised how much work it really is. We had over 75 people on the trails in Florence County one weekend in October and we still have areas that need to be finished up. Anyone that can help ANY club on ANY trail please do so. The better the trails are brushed, the wider the trails can be groomed which makes for better and more importantly safer trails!!!

Power Pole Saws work the best since the grooming equipment is pretty tall and getting the overhanging high branches is almost impossible without the pole saw. Of course regular chain saws are needed to cut fallen trees and pruners always work good for the small stuff. Depending on what trail you are on, ATVs or 4x4 trucks are usually a good bet. Hope the 100 Miler had a good turnout this past weekend!! The more work that gets done before the snow flies the better the trails will be when the snow does arrive!!

brushing crew

Post by Red Baron »

I had a crew of 5 guys that helped out brushing the trails from LMT 8 to Rat river road. It was a good time, hard work, but a good time. There were lots of others out there helping as well. The chicken dinner afterward at the wild rose was a great reward. We are looking forward to helping any time as needed. Just let us know and we will be there. It is the least we can do to enjoy the best trails in WI. Thanks again to the 100 miler and the Wild Rose for supporting our great winter sport.
