If we get Enough Snow

Post by Johnnie »

Before we get all the questions if the trails will open the day after we get enough snow. The answer is NO. Before the trails can be opened we have to coordinate the opening of many gates. Most are federal US Forest Service gates, which were closed through all firearms deer seasons. Then we have County gates on county land., Plum Crk. gates, Connor gates, and other privates landowners, who will not open their gates until there is enough snow so trucks will not drive on their land. We as a club do not have keys for these gates. We have to ask the land owners if they will please open their gates. Once all gates are opened for the season, we can begin grooming. All trails must be groomed and inspected before the county will open the trails. The first pass with the groomer takes much longer because there is no base and the ruts in the frozen ground are very rough. My best guess it will take at least a week for all the clubs in the county to have their trails opened and groomed after we get enough snow. All clubs in the county have to be ready before the Forest County Snowmobile Coordinator will open the trails. Don't get to excited anyhow. Until a good base is established, the riding isn't the best anyway.

Well no matter when the trails open I think all of us who helped last weekend know that once these trails do open they will be the best trails in the area!!

Now all there is left to do is the dance :taz::taz::taz::taz::taz::taz: and hope all goes well for Roger's transition from a boat to a Tucker:D:D:D:D

When I stopped at the cabin on Sunday I put my daughters white crayon in the freezer pointed to the NORTH :) Hope the white stuff keeps coming and we can stock up on the white stuff.

Speaking of the white stuff ISOC is going to have a sno-cross race Dec 18,19 at State Fair in West Allis and when I was at the last county meeting in Waukesha the person running ISOC said that it would only take 3 nights to make enough snow for the race and 2.5 million gallons of water, maybe we can haul some up-north with us if need be for X-mas:lol:

Muzzle Loading

Post by Jim »

I was informed today that the muzzle loading season was extended until tomorrow (Wed.) and don't expect our (Armstrong Creek) county gates to open until after then. And as Johnny said, we have some landowners to the North that we'll have to get keys from. A couple of the landowners give us keys to their gates (Wenzel), while others will either open their gates themselves (Connor) or lend us their keys (Cleereman) to open the gates and then return the keys.

That's awsome! As a ritual sacrafice to the SnowGod Polaris, I flush an ice cube down the toliet every night before bed, and throw one out the front door every morning when I wake up.

i know the trails are ready to go but the real question lies in the fact as to whether or not the groomers are. are they ready to start panning as soon as possible? the dance :taz::taz::taz::taz: that everyone is doing should bring a ton of snow. and why only put one white crayon in the freezer? why not put a box of them in the freezer?:ineedsnow::ineedsnow::letitsnow::lol::lol::lol:

Trails

Post by 410shooter »

Seems to me I remember riding this early in 2003, had a new sled and was dying to try it out. Trails opened and were really nice until that terrible 4 letter word happened, rain. Lets hope we can get some of this early riding in, the season short enough as it is.

My wife said I did the white crayon wrong. You need one white crayon and one white plastic spoon, guess I'll have to drive up soon to put the spoon in the freezer:lol:

I wouldn't change a thing. Whatever you are doing seems to be working!
